Good ideas, Qui. I'd be willing to participate in some way. I guess we all need to take some piece of doing a little bit more. Qui Diaz said:Hi folks. Britt, thanks for involving everyone in this decision. It takes no small amount of smarts (and ...

My tendency is to focus on opportunities to stretch the dollar by taking advantage of Web2.0 techniques and services that allow nonprofits to extend their communication capabilities at low or no cost. Here's a link to a bit I did for the We Are M...

Hooray! The interview looks great!!!!!! I'm going to post about it on the Net2 Blog as soon as I confirm Nikki's new title. Didn't he say he'd gotten a promotion from Director of Community Marketing?

I've been on staff of the American Cancer Society for, oh, a long time. My interests are the future of science and technology, especially as it applies to complex health issues like cancer.

I started blogging at fispace.org in 2003 as part of a blog for the ACS. I started podcasting when I met Britt when she was organizing the Net Tuesday events in San Francisco. I've been the podcaster for the events since late 2006

I am moving on to vlogging It's really different when you try to figure out how to communicate visually and with sound.

Obama, the game changer?

With the inaugural tomorrow and all the media coverage, I'm just wondering what people think about the adoption of internet tools by the Obama crowd? It seems to me if the effort to continue the involvement of 13 million names in the Obama data base stands up it'll be a game-changer for activism on the internet and the concept of democracy.

Involvement with government 'til now has been vote every 4 years and then go away while the power-brokers ran things. That might change.

Want to participate in the Obama White House Wiki?

Taking the long view

After taking the little lizard picture in my earlier post I realized there was a kind of irony in that. The page on which the lizard is posed is page 105 of Thomas Friedman's Hot, Flat and Crowded. That's the first page of chapter five about climate chan… Continue

Critter encounters in Paradise

My wife, Marilynn, doesn't like creepy, crawly things. That's why I can relate to the fall-down-funny scene from Annie Hall in which Diane Keaton screams when she finds a spider in the bathtub and sends Woody Allen in to do battle with it. Woody grabs a tennis racket because it's a "really BIG!" spider. I've done my share of that.

Sunday morning my wife and her daughter went down to the pool to get some premium Hawaiian sun. I figured, swell… Continue

Cliff-hanger in Paradise

All the Hawaiian islands seem to have a couple of similar features. In the middle there is a volcano or two, the fount from which the island was born. Then there is one road that circumnavigates the island right at it's edge with spectacular views of the ocean from 360 degrees. So it's my custom when visiting a new island to jump in the rental car and take a drive around its circumference. Muui fits that pattern.

Friday my wife and I headed north from Kaanapali where we're staying in one of the… Continue
