Goorin Brothers is Supporting the Courage Campaign

I think this is a great promotion from the Goorin Brothers, who make awesome hats. They have started a Bold Statement Award in conjunction with retail promotions which offer the consumer a discount, and on special products Goorin will donate 10% of their proceeds to the Courage Campaign. They are currently honoring Sean Penn for his role in attracting attention to gay rights issues with his portrayal of Harvey Milk.

The Politics of Compassion

The spiritual practice of compassion is one I struggle with frequently. It is a wonderful ideal to aspire to and it works really well in my head, but when I bump up against issues in the real world - the compassionate thing to do, think or say becomes a little cloudier. Intent and Need – The Nature of Kind Acts

I read an interesting blog post at The Happiness Project regarding random acts of kindness. Gretchen’s overall point was that perhaps being random is not such a great idea because people tend to be suspicious, or that you might be needlessly paying the toll for a millionaire driving behind you who doesn’t need your help.
